أخبرنا محمد بن يزيد الحزامي حدثنا إسحق بن سليمان عن عمرو بن أبي قيس عن عطاء قال كان رجل من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم له إليه حاجة فمشى معه حتى دخل قال فإحدى رجليه في البيت والأخرى خارجه كأنه يناجي فالتفت فقال أتدري من كنت أكلم إن هذا ملك لم أره قط قبل يومي هذا استأذن ربه أن يسلم علي قال إنا آتيناك أو أنزلنا القرآن فصلا والسكينة صبرا والفرقان وصلا
Amr ibn Abi Qais heard from Ata: “One of the companions came to the Prophet ( ﷺ ) in need. He ﷺ took him to his house, when he ﷺ entered the house and just as one of his legs was inside and the other outside, the companion realized that the Prophet ﷺ was murmuring with a man, after that he ﷺ turned and spoke to him: “Do you know who I was speaking to? He is an angel that I have never seen before, this angel asked permission from his Rabb in order to say Salaam to me. Allah says: “Verily we gave you the Qur’an or send down the Qur’an as a case breaker/judger and to make you patient we send down as Sakinah (Serenity) and we send down Al Furqaan (Qur’an) as a guide.

Al Furqan means differentiator between good and bad i.e. Qur’an.
