500 – It is narrated from the words of Abu Sa’eed and Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
“If three go on a journey, let them appoint one of them as their amir.”
This hadeeth was narrated by Abu Dawud 2608 and ad-Diya’ al-Maqdisi.
Imam an-Nawawi and Imam ash-Shawkani confirmed the authenticity of the hadeeth.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadeeth authentic. See Sahih al-Jami’ as-saghir 500.
