52 It is reported that Abu Habba al-Badri, may Allah be pleased with him, said:

“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:” Abu Sufyan ibn al-Haris [1] is the best of my family. ”

This hadith was transmitted by al-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabir (22/327) and al-Hakim 3/285, which said: “A reliable hadith that meets the conditions of Muslim.”

Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith Hasan. See “Sahih al-Jami ‘al-saghir” 52, “al-Silsila al-sahih” 820.

Footnotes

[1] His name was Abu Sufyan ibn al-Haris ibn ‘Abdul-Muttalib. They also say that his name was al-Mughira. He was the cousin of the prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and was very much like him. He converted to Islam in the year of the conquest of Mecca and subsequently professed Islam well. Before the acceptance of Islam, he was the worst enemy of the prophet, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, his followers and his religion. He took part in the Battle of Hunayn, where, along with al-‘Abbas, he showed courage. He died in the 20th year of Hijra, may Allah be pleased with him!
