«إذا أصاب أحدكم مصيبة فليذكر مصيبته بي فإنها من أعظم المصائب» .

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If any of you is touched by misfortune, let him remember the misfortune that befell him because of my death, for, truly, this is the greatest misfortune.”
This hadith was narrated by Ibn ‘Adi in al-Kamil (5/174), al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Iman (10152) from the words of Ibn’ Abbas; at-Tabarani in “al-Mu’jam al-Kabir” (6718) according to Sabit al-Jamahi, may Allah be pleased with them.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-Jami ‘as-saghir (347).
Grade: صحيح
Many have contested the authenticity of this hadith. However,Ibn Hajr has said isnad Hasan and Sheikh Hussein Asad said : Its chain of transmission is authentic, and it is mursal.
