It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“When you suffer from some ailment, then place your hand at the place of the ailment, then say: “In the Name of Allah, I seek refuge in Allah’s might and power from the evil of what I feel from this pain” (Bismillah, A’udhu Bi-Izzatillahi Wa Qudraitihi Min Sharri Wa Ajdu Min Waja’i Hadha). Then raise your hand and then repeat this an odd number of times.”
This hadith was narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3588) and al-Hakim (4/244) from the words of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him. al-Hakim said Sahih and Al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-Jami ‘as-saghir (346). See Silsila as-Sahiha 1258
