It is reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

Jibril appeared to me and said: “O Muhammad! Are you satisfied with what your Lord says: “Whoever of your Ummah may call a blessing on you once, Allah will bless him ten times for it. And whoever greets you from your community once, Allah will greet him ten times! ” And I said: “Yes, my Lord!”.

This hadith was transmitted by Ahmad 4/29, ad-Darimi 2773, al-Nasai 3/44, Ibn Hibban 915, al-Hakim 2/456, ad-Diya al-Maqadisi from Abu Talha.

Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See “Sahih al-Jami ‘al-saghir” 71, “Mishkatul-masabih” 928, “al-Silsil as-sahiha” 829.

The full hadith in Ibn Hibban is as follows:

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ascended the pulpit and he said, “Ameen, ameen, ameen.” It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, you ascended the pulpit and said ameen, ameen, ameen.” The Prophet said, “Verily, Gabriel came to me and he said: Whoever reaches the month of Ramadan and he is not forgiven, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say ameen. I said ameen. Whoever sees his parents in their old age, one or both of them, and he does not honor them and he dies, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say ameen. I said ameen. Whoever has your name mentioned in his presence and he does not send blessings upon you and he dies, then he will enter Hellfire and Allah will cast him far away, so say ameen. I said ameen.”
