Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said: The people of Yemen have come to you and they are more gentle and soft-hearted. Belief is Yemenite and Wisdom is Yemenite [1], while pride and haughtiness are the qualities of the owners of camels [2]. Calmness and solemnity are the characters of the owners of sheep.

Notes
Arrogance is a trait befitting only Allah
Of the most beautiful names of Allah is “Mutakabbir”, which means: Proud.
Allah Almighty says: “He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. ” al-Hashr, 59:23.
According to Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, said that Almighty and Great Allah said: “Greatness is My Izar, and pride is My cloak, I will throw into the fire who will compete with Me in this. ” Muslim 2620, Abu Dawood 4090.
Warning against arrogance from the Sunnah
‘Amr ibn Shuayb said from the words of his father and grandfather that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, arrogant people will be gathered together as ants in the shape of a man. Humiliation will befall them from all sides. They will be driven to a prison in Hell called Baulas, where the hottest fire will rise above them, and they will be given a drink of the inhabitants of hell called tinatul-habal. ” al-Tirmizi 2492. Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith good. See Sahih at-Tirmizi 2025, Sahih at-targib wa-t-tarhib 3583, Sahih al-jami ‘as-sagir 8040, Mishkat al-Masabih 5112.
About the methods of combating arrogance and getting rid of it
It is reported that, addressing Allah with his prayers, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, often said:
اللَّهمَّ إنِّي أسألُكَ قلبًا سَلِيمًا
“Allahumma, Inni Asyalyuka Kalban Saliman! ”
“O Allah, verily, I pray You to make my heart sound!”
Ahmad 4/123 and al-Nasai 3/54. Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See also al-Silsila al-sahiha” 3228.
Regarding pride in one’s religion or belonging to it and the fact that it is legalized in Islam and is a righteous deed
This is clearly demonstrated to us by the history of one of the battles. Abu Sufyan, leader of the Quraysh, was proud of his religion and the religion of his people – at a time when he had not yet accepted Islam.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) answered his boast, expressing the pride of Muslims in belonging to their religion and in recognizing the Oneness of the Lord of the worlds.
According to the hadeeth of al-Bara ibn ‘Azib, that after the battle of Uhud Abu Sufyan ibn Harb started reciting cheerfully, “O Hubal, be high! (1) On that the Prophet (ﷺ) said (to his companions), “Why don’t you answer him back?” They said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) What shall we say?” He said, “Say, Allah is Higher and more Sublime.” (Then) Abu Sufyan said, “We have the (idol) Al `Uzza, and you have no `Uzza.” The Prophet said (to his companions), “Why don’t you answer him back?” They asked, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! What shall we say?” He said, “Says Allah is our Helper and you have no helper.”
