«إذا انقطع شسع أحدكم فلا يمش في نعل واحدة حتى يصلح شسعه و لا يمشي في خف واحد و لا يأكل بشماله و لا يحتب بالثوب الواحد و لا يلتحف الصماء»
(م د) عن جابر.
405 – It is reported that Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If one of you breaks the straps of your sandal, he should not walk with one sandal till he repairs his thongs(straps). And let him not walk with one khuff[1] (leather sock) and eat with his left hand. And let the man, dressed only in one cloth, not sit on his buttocks, raising his knees, which he clasps with his hands, leaving his shameful parts uncovered, and let him not wrap himself up tightly in his clothes, leaving no room for the arms. “
This hadith was narrated by Muslim 2099 and Abu Daud 4137.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-jami ‘as-saghir 405.
[1] It applies to any footwear. Here it is mentioned as leather socks.
