“إذا أم الرجل القوم فلا يقم في مكان أرفع من مقامهم”
(د هق) عن حذيفة.
It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“When a man leads the people in prayer, he must not stand in a position higher than theirs”
This hadith was narrated by Abu Dawood 598 and al-Bayhaqi 3/109 from the words of Huzaifa.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-jami ‘as-sagyir 392.
