It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If a begger comes to you, put at least a fried hoof in his hand.” This hadith was narrated by Ibn ‘Adi in al-Kamil from the words of Jabir.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-jami ‘as-saghir 267, Mishkat al-Masabih 1879 and 1942.
Grade: صحيح
“At least a fried hoof” – of cow or sheep etc. The hoof is mentioned here in spite of the fact that it does not relieve hunger, in order to indicate the very little amount one can give.This is desirable, and if that (person) has a strong need, then it is mandatory. See Faidul-Qadir 1 / 243-244.
