Saheeh Al-Jami ‘As-Saghir Hadith No. 262

It is reported that Abu Ayyub al-Ansari said:that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:
When you go to the toilet, do not face the Qiblah while passing stool or urine nor turn your backs to it, but turn either to the east or west.” 

«إذا أتى أحدكم الغائط فلا يستقبل القبلة ولا يولها ظهره ولكن شرقوا أو غربوا» .
(صحيح) … [حم ق 4] عن أبي أيوب. مختصر مسلم 109)

This hadith was narrated by Ahmad 5/414, 416, 417 and 421, al-Bukhari 144 and 394, Muslim 264, Abu Daud 9, at-Tirmidhi 8, an-Nasai 12/23, Ibn Majah 318, Abu ‘Awana 1/199 , ad-Darimi 665, ad-Darakutni 175, Bulugh-al Maram 98.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-Jami ‘as-saghir 262, Irva-ul-Galil 60, Mishkat al-Masabih 334.
