أتاني جبريل وميكائيل فقعد جبريل عن يميني وميكائيل عن يساري فقال جبريل يا محمد اقرإ القرآن على حرف فقال ميكائيل استزده فقلت زدني فقال اقرأه على حرفين فقال ميكائيل استزده فقلت زدني فقال اقرأه على ثلاث أحرف فقال ميكائيل استزده فقلت زدني كذلك حتى بلغ سبعة أحرف فقال اقرأه على سَبْعَةِ أحْرُف كُلُّها شافٍ كافٍ
(حم عبد بن حميد ن) عن أبي بن كعب (حم طب) عن أبي بكرة (ابن الضريس) عن عبادة بن الصامت)
It is reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
“Jibril and Mikaeel came to me. Jibril sat to my right, and Mikaeel to my left. Jibril said: “O Muhammad, read the Qur’an in one dialect (harf).” Mikaeel said to me: “Wish for more.” I said, “Add more.” He said: “Read it in three dialects.” Michael said to me: “Wish for more.” I said, “Add more.” And so it went on until we got to seven. He said: “Read it in seven dialects. All of them are adequate and healing. ”
This hadeeth was transmitted by Ahmad 5/114, 122, ‘Abd ibn Khumayd and al-Nasai 2/154 according to Ubayyya ibn Ka’ba; Ahmad 5/41, 51 and at-Tabarani in Mu’jam al-Kabir, according to Abu Bakra; Ibn al-Durais from the words’ Ubada ibn al-Samith.
