اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة» .
(صحيح) … [ق, ن] عن عدي بن حاتم [حم] عن عائشة [طس الضياء] عن أنس, [البزار] عن النعمان بن بشير, وعن أبي هريرة [طب] عن ابن عباس وعن أبي أمامة.
It is reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
“Protect yourself from Fire even with half a date[1].”
[1] i.e. by giving in charity.
This hadith was transmitted by Ahmad (4/258, 259, 377), al-Bukhari (6539, 6540), Muslim (1016), al-Nasai (5/74), Ibn Hibban (473, 666, 2804), Abu Nu ‘ Aime in “Hilyatul-auliya” (7/146, 195, 196) from the words of ‘Adi ibn Hatim; Ahmad (6/137) from the words of ‘Aisha; at-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Ausat (3644) and ad-Diyay al-Maqdisi in al-Muhtara (2048) according to Anas; al-Bazzar (3226, 6619) from the words of al-Nu’man ibn Bashir and Abu Huraira; al-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabir (12771) according to Ibn ‘Abbas and Abu Umama (8017).
