«إذا اختلفتم في الطريق فاجعلوه سبعة أذرع» .

It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“When you dispute concerning a path, make it seven cubits wide.”
This hadith was narrated by Ahmad 2/228, Muslim 613, Abu Daud 3633, at-Tirmidhi 1355 and Ibn Majah 2338 from the words of Abu Hurayrah; Ahmad 1/317, Ibn Majah 2339 and al-Bayhaqyi 6/69 from the words of Ibn ‘Abbas.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-jami ‘as-saghir 291, Ta’likat ar-radiyya 2/476.
