It is narrated from the words of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If Allah loves a person, He calls Gabriel saying, ‘Allah loves so and-so; O Gabriel! Love him.’ After which Gabriel will love him and make an announcement amongst the inhabitants of the Heaven. ‘Allah loves so-and-so, therefore you should love him also,’ and so all the inhabitants of the Heaven would love him, and then he is granted the pleasure of the people on the earth.[1]”
This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari 3209 and Muslim 2637.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-jami ‘as-saghir 283.
