أخبرني جبريل أن حسينا يقتل بشاطئ الفرات» .

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Jibril informed me that Hussein [1] would be killed on the banks of the Euphrates.” This hadith was narrated by Ibn Sa’d in at-Tabakat al-Kubra from the words of ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-Jami ‘as-sagyir (219), al-Silsilah al-sahiha (1171).
[1] This refers to Husayn ibn ‘Ali – the grandson of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the son of Fatima and’ Ali, may Allah be pleased with him.
