احبسوا صبيانكم حتى تذهب فوعة العشاء, فإنها ساعة تخترق1 فيها الشياطين» .
صحيح … [ك] عن جابر. الصحيحة 905: حم

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Keep your children (at home) until the first part of the night is over, for verily, this is the time when the shaitans are scattered (over the earth)!”

This hadith was narrated by Ahmad (3/362) and al-Hakim (4/316) from the words of Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him.

Al-Hakim said: “An authentic hadith that meets the conditions of Muslim,” and al-Dhahabi agreed with him.

Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-Jami ‘as-sagir (182), Sahih at-Targib va-t-tarhib (3123), al-Silsilya al-sahiha (905).

_________________________

It is narrated from the words of Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Keep your children (close to you) at nightfall, for, indeed, during this period (on the earth) the shaitans disperse, and after some time you can let go (children). And close (at night) the doors (of your house), remembering the name of Allah [1], and extinguish your lamp, remembering the name of Allah, and tie your fur, remembering the name of Allah, and cover your vessel, remembering the name of Allah, (and if there is nothing to cover ), put something across it. ” al-Bukhari (3280), Muslim (2012).

The meaning of the ban on letting children go at sunset is that during this period the shaitans disperse along the earth and begin their activity even more strongly. And so that they do not harm the children, do not frighten them, etc., the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ordered to keep them with oneself during this period. See al-Iqmal (6/482), Kashf al-Mushkil (3/18).

[1] That is, saying “With the name of Allah / Bi-smi-Llah /”.
