احتج آدم وموسى فحج آدم موسى
(صحيح) … [خط] عن أنس2. الصحيحة 909: حم, طب)

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Adam and Musa argued and Adam defeated Musa in argument.” This hadith was narrated by al-Khatib al-Baghdadi (4/349) from the words of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him.

Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-Jami ‘as-saghir (183), al-Silsilah al-sahiha (909).

Grade: صحيح

It is reported that once Abu Mu’awiya told the hadith of Abu Hurayrah in the company of Harun al-Rashid that somehow Adam and Musa had argued, peace be upon them both. Then one of those present said: “How is it, Adam and Musa? After all, there are so many years between them ?! ” And then Harun al-Rashid got angry, jumped up from his seat and said: “He gives you a hadith from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and greet him, and you object and say,” How ?! “

Imam Abu ‘Uthman al-Sabuni regarding the actions of Harun ar-Rashid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “And in the same way, it is necessary for a person to magnify the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), accept them, address them, submit and don’t reject them. And it is also necessary to severely censure the one who uses his own conclusions to oppose the authentic hadith, and come with the question “How is this possible ?!” Just as one of the caliphs Harun al-Rashid did in relation to someone who did not receive a message from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). After all, a Muslim is obliged to accept everything that reliably came from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). See “Aqida Ashabul Hadith” (p. 129).
