Fasting Purifies The Soul
Fasting actualizes taqwā of Allāh, and it purifies the soul from heedlessness and following its lusts and desires. It causes the soul to patiently avoid what it desires and naturally craves. So when the soul is able to do this by fasting, it becomes easy for it to leave the prohibited matters that must be avoided to achieve piety.
