اجعلوا بينكم وبين النار حجابا ولو بشق تمرة» .

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Make a barrier between yourself and the fire by giving even half of a date in charity.”
This hadith was narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabir (18/303) from the words of Fadal ibn ‘Ubayd, may Allah be pleased with him.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith good. See Sahih al-Jami ‘as-sagyir (153), al-Silsilah al-sahiha (897).
