أتانِي جِبْرِيلُ في أوَّلِ ما أُوحِيَ إلَيَّ فَعَلَّمَنِي الوُضُوءَ والصَّلاَةَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ الوضُوءُ أخَذَ غَرْفَةً مِنَ الَضَحَ
(حم قط ك) عن أسامة عن أبيه زيد بن حارثة)
It is reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
“Jibril came to me with the first revelation and taught me to perform ablution and prayer, and when he completed ablution, he took a handful of water and sprayed it on his penis [1] .”
This hadith was transmitted by Ahmad 4/161, Ibn Majah 462, ad-Darakutni 399, al-Hakim 3/217, al-Baihaky 1/161 from the words of Osama, who transmitted it from the words of his father Zayed ibn Harisa.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See “Sahih al-jami ‘as-sagir” 76, “al-Silsil as-sahiha” 841.

[1] Imam al-Munawi in Faydul Qadir Sharh al-Jami` al-Saghir (commentary on the Jami` by Imam al-Suyuti) said: “That is sprayed with water the place of izhar (lower garment), beyond which is the human penis. After all, Jibril does not have a genital organ, since the angels are not male or female. ”
