Shaykh ul-Islām ibn Taymiyyah [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“The truth is like pure gold; the more it withstands purification [in testing] the more it increases in quality. Whereas, falsehood is deceptive; dazzling and luminous [i.e. fool’s gold]; when it undertakes a purification process test its corruption bcomes apparent.”
