Al-Imām ibn al-Qayyim [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“Evil and misguided scholars sit at the gates of Paradise, calling the people towards it with their speech. Yet they call the people to the Fire with their actions. Every time they speak to the people, they say: ‘Hasten, come, come proceed forth!’ Yet their actions suggest not to listen to them, for if they had been sincere, truthful and called to the truth, they themselves would have been the first to respond. Thus, they are seemingly guides, in reality however they are bandits, highway robbers!”
