It is reported from Umm al-Ala, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to her:
“Be glad, O Umm al-Ala’ ,Truly, a disease removes the sins of a Muslim, just as fire removes scale from iron. ”
This hadith was conveyed by at-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabir (25/141) from the words of Ummul-‘Ala, may Allah be pleased with her.
