418 – It is narrated from the words of Sabra ibn Ma’bad that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“When your children reach the age of seven, put them (to sleep) in different beds, and when they reach ten years, hit them (due to negligence in) prayer.”
This hadith was narrated by al-Daraqutni 898 and al-Hakim 1/317, who said: “An authentic hadith corresponding to the conditions of Muslim,” and al-Dhahabi agreed with him. Similar wording in Abu Dawood 495.
Grade: Sahih
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-jami ‘as-saghir 418.

إذا بلغ أولادكم سبع سنين ففرقوا بين فرشهم و إذا بلغوا عشر سنين فاضربوهم على الصلاة
