It is reported that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If a man is asked for permission while he is praying, then his permission is tasbeeh (Subhanallah). And if a woman is asked for permission while she is praying, then clapping her hands will serve as her permission. ”
This hadith was narrated by al-Bayhakyi 2/247 from the words of Ibn ‘Umar.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-jami ‘as-saghir 320, al-Silsilah al-sahiha 497.
