«إذا أدخل أحدكم رجليه في خفيه وهما طاهرتان فليمسح عليهما ثلاثا للمسافر ويوما للمقيم» .

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If one of you puts his legs into his leather socks / khuffain / while in state of Wudu’, let him wipe over them. (This can be done) by a traveler for three (days), and a permanent resident for one day. ”
This hadith was narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah in 1894 from the words of Abu Huraira.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-jami ‘as-saghir 293.
