It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Take a break between your adhan and iqama, so that the one who takes ablution finishes it slowly, and so that the one who eats without haste ends up eating.”
This hadith was narrated by ‘Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal in Ziyadatul-Musnad (5/143) from the words of Ubayyah ibn Ka’ba; Abu ash-Sheikh in “al-Azan” according to Salman and Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with them.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith good. See Sahih al-Jami ‘as-saghir (150), al-Silsilah al-sahihah (887).
