أحب الأديان إلى الله تعالى الحنيفية السمحة
(حسن) … [حم خد طب] عن ابن عباس. الصحيحة 881)

It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“The most beloved religion for Allah is the noble religion of monotheism or hanifiya / [1]! “

This hadith was narrated by Ahmad (1/236), al-Bukhari in al-Adabul-mufrad (287), at-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabir (11572) from the words of Ibn ‘Abbas, yes Allah will be pleased with both of them.

Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith good. See Sahih al-Jami ‘as-saghir (160), al-Silsilah al-sahihah (881).

It is reported that Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: “Once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked:“ What is the most beloved religion for Allah? ” He replied: “Easy religion of monotheism / hanifiya /!” “

“Easy” – that is, devoid of excesses. Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said: “Hanifiya is mentioned along with lightness, since the religion of Hanifiya is monotheism and lightness in deeds. And this is the opposite of two things, and this is polytheism and the prohibition of what is permitted. ” See “Igasatu-l-lyakhfan” (1/135).

‘Abdullah ibn Abu Yazid al-Ansari said: “Call yourself by the names that Allah called you: hanifiyah, Islam and iman!” Ibn Abi Sheiba. See ad-Durrul-mansur (6/81).

Imam Zakariya al-Ansari said regarding this hadith: “Easy religion means: a religion in which there is no constraint and difficulties, unlike other religions.” See Tuhfatul Bari (1/199).

Imam al-Bukhari quoted this hadith in his Saheeh in the chapter entitled “Religion is Easy.”

Hafiz Ibn Hajar in relation to the chapter: “Religion is easy”, said: “It is called an easy religion in relation to previous religions, for Allah has removed from this community the burden that was placed on other communities. And the most striking example of this is the form of repentance, which in the previous communities was in the form of suicide, while the repentance of this ummah is the cessation of committing sin, the firm intention never to commit such a thing and repentance. ” See Fathul Bari (1/115).

What Ibn Hajar says is mentioned in the Quran:  “Musa said to his people:“ O my people! You were unfair to yourself when you worshiped the calf. Repent to your Creator and kill yourself. It will be better for you in front of your Creator. ” Then He accepted your repentance. Indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful ”  (al-Baqara, 2:54).

According to Abu Musa and Anas, may Allah be pleased with them, it is reported that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent one of his Companions on an assignment, he told them: “Rejoice and do not turn away! Make it easier, not complicate! ” al-Bukhari (69), Muslim (1734).

Also from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to his Companions: “Indeed, you are sent to make it easier and not sent to complicate!” at-Tirmizi (147). The hadith is authentic.

Hafiz Ibn Rajab said: “Relief is moderation and the middle in worship, so that a person does not oversight in the responsibilities assigned to him, and also does not take on what he cannot do.” See al-Mahajah (51).
From Ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah Almighty loves when His relief is accepted, just as He does not like when His prohibitions are violated.” … Ahmad (2/108), Ibn Hibban (2742), al-Quda’i (1078). The hadith is authentic. See Sahih at-Targhib (1059).

And in another version: “Certainly Allah loves that one takes advantage of his facilitations as He likes that one abandons what He has forbidden”.
(Reported by Ibn Khuzaima and authenticated by Sheikh Albani in Sahih Targhib1059)

As for examples of how the Sharia of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) made relief in the provisions of religion, there are a great many of them, including: the permissibility of uttering words of disbelief when forced. Allah Almighty said: “The wrath of Allah will fall on those who renounced Allah after believing — not on those who were forced to do this, while firm faith rested in his heart, but on those who themselves opened their chest for unbelief. Great torments are in store for them ”  (al-Nahl, 16: 106).

Imam al-Baghawi said: “Scholars are unanimous that one who is forced to utter words of unbelief is allowed to pronounce it in his own language. And if he says it in his language, without having such a conviction, then it is not kufr. But if he refuses and is killed for this, then that is better. ” See Tafsir al-Baghawi (5/329).

Also, one of the reliefs granted by Allah Almighty to His slaves is eating carrion during hunger. Allah Almighty said: “He forbade you carrion, blood, pig meat and that which is not sacrificed for the sake of Allah. If someone is forced to eat the forbidden, without showing disobedience and without overstepping the limits of the necessary, then there is no sin on him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful ”  (al-Bak’ara, 2: 173).

Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Once a mule died in a family, and they had nothing to eat. Then they came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and informed him of this, and he allowed them to eat this mule. ” al-Bazzar (Kashf al-astar 3/328). The hadith is good. See al-Jami ‘as-sahih (4/181).

Also from among the reliefs, this is the performance of cleansing for prayer with pure land, in the absence of water or fear of getting sick, aggravating the disease or dying if it is used; the permissibility of shortening prayers for a traveler, combining two prayers on the way or if necessary; wiping your socks instead of washing your feet, and more.

All of the above indicates that the religion of Islam is an easy religion! However, it should be emphasized that Islam does not need numerous simplifications by various preachers of our day, which abolish it in contradiction to its commands and clear prohibitions. There are many examples of this today, such as allowing music; allowing men and women who are outsiders to stay together; handshake of strangers men and women; a statement that a beard is not obligatory in Islam and the main thing is what is in the soul; a statement that the principle of friendship and non-involvement in Islam does not exist, etc.

Refuting those who make indulgences in the religion of Allah for the sake of their passions, Imam Ibn Hazm said:   And who in this relies on the words of Allah:
“Allah wishes you relief, and does not wish difficulties for you”  (al-Bak’ara, 2: 185), then we know that everything Allah has given is so easy (for execution), and Allah himself said about this:  “He did not no difficulty for you in religion ” (al-Hajj, 22:78)”. See al-Ihkam (869).
Sheikh ‘Abdu-r-Rahman al-Sa’di said: “Everything that Allah has commanded to His slaves is light in its essence. However, if something difficult happens, it is facilitated by another provision, either by removing it altogether, or by performing it in a simplified form. ” See Tafsir al-Sa’di (198).

[1] This is not about the madhhab of Imam Abu Hanifah, which is referred to as Hanafi. Hanifiya is a religion of monotheism, cleansed of lies. Hanif is one who follows the religion of the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), as Imams al-Sindi and al-Munawi said. See al-Khashiyya and Faydul-Qadir (1/205).
