إتَّقُوا بَيْتاً يُقَالُ لَهُ الحَمَّامُ فَمَنْ دَخَلَهُ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ

(طب ك هب) عن ابن عباس)

116 – It is reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

“Beware of the house, which is called the bathhouse[1], and let him who goes there conceal himself [2].”

[1] Turkish Baths or Hammam or public baths.

[2] That is will cover his’ awrah from prying eyes.

This hadith was transferred to al-Tabarani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabir (10932), al-Baykhaky in Shu’ab al-Iman (7765) and al-Hakim (4/288) according to Ibn ‘Abbas may Allah be pleased with both of them.

Al-Hakim said: “A credible hadith on the conditions of Muslim,” and al-Zahabi agreed with him.

Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See “Sahih al-Jami ‘al-sagir” (116), “al-Kalim at-tayyib” (p. 128), “Gayatul-maram” (193), “Irwa ul-galil” (2582).
