How to attain the Sweetness of Iman

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever would love to taste the flavor of faith, let him love a person only for the sake of Allah Almighty.”

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Ahmad Shakir

Also Al-Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “He has tasted the sweetness of faith who is content with Allah as a Lord, Islam as a religion, and Muhammad as a messenger.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever has three traits within himself will find the sweetness of faith: one who loves Allah and His Messenger more than anything else, one who loves a servant only for the sake of Allah, and one who hates to turn back to unbelief after Allah has saved him, just as he hates to be thrown into the fire.”

Salaf from the Past on the Sweetness of Iman

Imam Ibrahim b. Adam [رحمه ﷲ] said

 

“If the kings and their sons knew what we experience of spiritual pleasure and happiness, they would fight us for it with their swords.”

Imam Ibn Taymiyah [رحمه الله] said

 

“Indeed in this world is a garden whoever doesn’t enter it will not enter the garden of the afterlife (paradise).”

Imam Ibn Taymiyah [رحمه الله] said

 

“What will my enemies do with me? Indeed my garden and my groves are in my chest. Where I go then it is with me and it does not leave me. Indeed my imprisonment is isolation (for worship) and killing me is martyrdom and my exile from my land is tourism (to reflect).”
