Fasting Encompasses All Types Of Patience
Shaykh Muḥammad Ṣāliḥ al-‘Uthaymīn رحمه الله said: “Fasting necessitates being patient in obedience to Allāh, being patient when refraining from the prohibitions of Allāh, and being patient upon the painful decrees of Allāh such as hunger, thirst, weakness in body, and weakness in spirit. Truly all three types of patience are gathered in it (i.e. fasting), thus the one fasting is surely from the patient people. Allāh says, “Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without reckoning.” • [39:10]
