▪️Dua for Breaking the Fast▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

📥 *Question:*

Is there a specific dua for when one is breaking his fast?

📤 Answer:

There has come some hadiths that mention that, like the hadith:

Which translates to:

“Thirst has gone, the arteries are moist, and the reward is sure, if Allah wills.”

But this hadith is not authentic. So it is not correct to say this dua when one is breaking his fast. If one intends to eat after fasting he simply says, Bismillah. And after he has finished eating he says, Alhamdulilah.

And if Allah has allowed the servant to complete his fast this leads him to his happiness at the time of him breaking his fast. As the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “The servant has two happinesses from fasting, one at the time of breaking his fast and one when he meets his Lord.

And Allah knows best.
