قال الشيخ ابن عثيمين رحمه الله :
إن أشرف الرسل الملكي وهو جبريل – سأل أشرف الرسل البشري – وهو محمد عليه الصلاة والسلام – قال أخبرني عن الساعة؟ قال: (ما المسؤول عنها بأعلم من السائل) والمعنى: كما أنه لا علم لك بها، فلا علم لي بها أيضا. فمن ادعى علم الساعة، فهو كاذب كافر، ومن صدقه، فهو أيضاً كافر، لأنه مكذب للقرآن

Shaykh ibn ‘Uthaymeen [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“The most honourable of the angelic Messengers, Jibreel عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم, asked the most honourable of the human Messengers, and he is Muhammad صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ‘Inform me about the Hour.’ He [the Messenger of Allāh صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ] replied: ‘The one who is questioned about it [the Hour] does not know any more than the one who is asking.’ Meaning: Just as you have no knowledge regarding it, I have no knowledge regarding it either. Whoever claims knowledge of the Hour, he is a lying disbeliever, and whomsoever believes him, he too is a disbeliever, because he has disbelieved in the Qur’ān.”
