Sh. al-‘Allāmah Sālih al-Fawzān hafidhahullāh said:
“It is legislated for the Imām to prolong the first rak’ah based on the statement of Abu Qatādah that the Prophet ﷺ would prolong the first rakāh.” (Agreed Upon).“
