أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْقُرَشِيُّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيِّ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّكَ نَبِيٌّ حَتَّى اسْتَيْقَنْتَ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ أَتَانِي مَلَكَانِ وَأَنَا بِبَعْضِ بَطْحَاءِ مَكَّةَ فَوَقَعَ أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ الْآخَرُ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ أَهُوَ هُوَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَزِنْهُ بِرَجُلٍ فَوُزِنْتُ بِهِ فَوَزَنْتُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ فَزِنْهُ بِعَشَرَةٍ فَوُزِنْتُ بِهِمْ فَرَجَحْتُهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ زِنْهُ بِمِائَةٍ فَوُزِنْتُ بِهِمْ فَرَجَحْتُهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ زِنْهُ بِأَلْفٍ فَوُزِنْتُ بِهِمْ فَرَجَحْتُهُمْ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَنْتَثِرُونَ عَلَيَّ مِنْ خِفَّةِ الْمِيزَانِ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ لَوْ وَزَنْتَهُ بِأُمَّتِهِ لَرَجَحَهَا.
Urwah bin Az Zubair narrates from his father from Abu Dhar Al Ghifari: that he said ” O the Messenger of Allah ﷺ How did you come to know of your prophethood? He replied ﷺ “O Abu Dhar, two angels came to me while I was in a valley in Mecca. One of them came down to earth and the other was between heaven and earth. One of them told his friend: Is he the one? then his friend answered: “Yes!” then he said ” weigh him with one person” and he weighed me with one person and I was heavier on the scale. Then he said “weigh him with ten persons” and he weighed me with ten persons and I was heavier on the scale. Then he said “weigh him with one hundred people” and I weighed heavier than them on the scale. Then he said “weigh him with one thousand people” then I was weighed and I was heavier than them. At that time I seemed to see the people about to fall on me because of them being lighter in scale and then one of the two angels said to his friend: “Even if he was weighed by all his people (Ummah) he would still be heavier than them. “
