Asmaa, may Allah be pleased with her, said:
(كنا نغطي وجوهنا من الرجال وكنا نمتشط قبل ذلك في الإحرام)
“We would cover our faces from the men and would also comb our hair while in the ‘ihraam’.”
[Reported by Haakim with an authentic chain of narration]
Also in Irwa al-Ghalil, 4/212 by Sheikh Al-Albani, Hakim 1601, Ibn Khuzaimah 2515. This hadith is authenticated by Ibn Khuzaimah in his Sahih, Hakim in his Mustadrak and Al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كُنَّا نُخَمِّرُ وُجُوهَنَا وَنَحْنُ مُحْرِمَاتٌ وَنَحْنُ مَعَ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ
Fatima bint al-Mundhir said, “We used to veil our faces while we were in ihram and we would be with Asmaa bint Abi Bakr as-Siddiq.”
Authentic from Muwatta Malik 708
قَالَتْ كَانَ الرُّكْبَانُ يَمُرُّونَ بِنَا وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مُحْرِمَاتٌ فَإِذَا حَاذَوْا بِنَا سَدَلَتْ إِحْدَانَا جِلْبَابَهَا مِنْ رَأْسِهَا إِلَى وَجْهِهَا فَإِذَا جَاوَزُونَا كَشَفْنَاهُ
Abu Dawood in his Sunan 1833, and In his Masail Imam Ahmad 46.
It was reported from Mujahid, from ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, that she said:
“Riders would pass by us while we were with the Messenger of Allah in the state of Ihram. When they would be side-by-side with us, we would drape our Jilbab from our heads upon our faces, and when they had passed, we would
uncover it.” (Weak by Sheikh Al-Albani and Zubair Ali Zai)
In it is Yazid bin Abi Ziyad whose memory worsened in his late ages. He was truthful in himself but was weak in memorization. Hence, is weakened by Majority.
