Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him said :
The souls are in need of what the Prophet salahu aliyhi wasallam brought and follow it , more than how they’re in need of food and drink; If food and drink is not present then death will overcome in this world, then in the hereafter if the way of the Prophet salahu aliyhi wasallam is absent then the punishment of of Allah will overcome, it’s upon everyone to strive to his ability to know what the Messenger salahu aliyhi wasallam brought and to obey him salahu aliyhi wasallam.
