Rays of Light From The Qur’ān
Don’t waste your deeds, do it for Allāh alone.
﴿وقَدِمْنا إلى ما عَمِلُوا مِن عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْناهُ هَباءً مَنثُورًا﴾
And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed.
[Al-Furqān:23]
Ibn al-Mubārak said concerning the verse: “(It is) Every righteous deed that is not intended for the face of Allāh.”

Al-Baghawi said concerning the verse: “Meaning: it is futile, there is no reward for it, they did not do it for Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic.”
