Deceived by the covering of Allaah of their affairs
Ibraheem Ibn Adham may the mercy of Allaah be upon him said:
It has reached me that Umar Ibn Abd Al-Azeez said to Khalid Ibn Safwan : admonish me and make it short. Khalid then said:
“O’ commander of the believers, some people were deceived by the covering of Allaah of their affairs, and they were fascinated by the good praise of the people, so let not the ignorance of the people of your reality overcome your knowledge of yourself. May Allaah give me and you refuge from being from those who are deceived by the cover, fascinated by the good praise of people, lagging and delinquent in relation to what Allaah prescribed and inclined towards desire.”
Umar then cried and said: “May Allaah give me and you refuge from following desire.”
