Al-Hāfidh ibn Kathīr rahimahullāh said:
“Ilyas Ibn Mu’āwiyah said: ‘Every person who does not know his own shortcomings is a fool.’
It was said to him, ‘what is your shortcoming?’
He said: ‘Speaking abundantly’.”
