A Series of Reminders About The Month of Sha’bān – No.2
Sheikh al-‘Uthaymīn رحمه الله said: “That which is correct is that all of the aḥadīth about that 15th night of Sha’bān cannot be used as a proof, and from them are things that fabricated.”

Ibn Dihyah al-Kalbī (died 331H) said: The people of at-Ta’dīl wa at-Tajrīḥ (i.e. the ‘Ulamā of Ḥadīth) have said: ‘There isn’t a single ḥadīth about the 15th night of Sha’bān that is ṣaḥīḥ (authentic).

Zayd Ibn Aslam stated: “We have not encountered anyone from our Mashāyikh or Scholars of fiqh who acknowledge the middle of Sha’bān, nor do they acknowledge the hadīth of Makḥūl, nor do they see it has having more merit than other months.”
It was said to Ibn Abī Mulaykah: ‘Indeed, Ziyād an-Numayrī states the reward of the middle night of Sha’bān is like the reward of Laylatu al-Qadr.’ To which he responded: ‘If I were to hear him and had a stick in my hand, I would have beat him.“
