Al-Imām ibn al-Qayyim [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“Sorrow and anguish caused by past events cannot be erased by mere mourning, however, it can be alleviated by practicing the following:
‘Accepting Allāh’s Decree, expressing gratitude, enduring patience, believing in pre-destination, and uttering the statement: ‘It is the decree of Allāh, and He does what He wills.’”
