Safeguard Your Tongue

It was said to Bakr bin ‘Abd-Allāh al-Muzzani [may Allāh have mercy on him]:

“Certainly, you preserve silence for long intervals.

He replied: ‘Certainly my tongue is [like] a predatory animal, if I let it loose it will destroy me.’”
