The Death of a Scholar is the Departure [and loss] of Knowledge

Yahya bin Ja’far [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:

“Certainly, if I was able to increase the age of Muhammad ibn Ismā’eel [al-Bukhāri] [by deducting] from my age, I would have done so. Certainly, my death is the death of one man whilst his death is the departure [and loss] of knowledge.”
