The Shirk of Porn and looking at Haram – Shaykh Saalih al Fawzan
Questioner:
Noble Shaykh, may Allah grant you success, is loving to look at impermissible pictures which appear on cellphones and internet, and always desiring this; considered as Shirk; such that the person is a slave to these photos.
Shiek:
Yes. It is Shirk of desire. It is Shirk of desires as he/she yearns therefore taking a hold of his heart, he/she constantly pursues them. This is a type of minor Shirk.
Questioner:
The follow up question, may Allah preserve you, what is your advice with regards to a successful solution for one who has been tested with this
Shiek:
To stay far away from looking at these photos, wherever they are. Stay away from looking at them.
قُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَغُضُّوا۟ مِنْ أَبْصَٰرِهِم وَيَحْفَظُوا۟ فُرُوجَهُمْۚ ذَٰلِكَ أَزْكَىٰ لَهُمْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا يَصْنَعُونَ
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and their chastity.”
(24:30)
