472 – It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“When Ramadan comes, fast for thirty days, unless you see the new crescent before that.”
This hadith was narrated by at-Tabarani in Mu’jam al-Kabir 17/78 from the words of ‘Adi ibn Hatim.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Saheeh al-jami ‘as-saghir 472.
