468 – It is reported that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If you come to the prayer, and you see that we are prostrating, then you must prostrate , but do not count it as something (that you managed to perform this rak’at), and whoever catches up with the rak’ah has caught up with the prayer ”.
This hadith was narrated by Abu Dawood 893, al-Bayhaqi 2/89, al-Hakim 1/407, who called the hadith authentic and was agreed with al-Dhahabi.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith authentic. See Sahih al-jami ‘as-saghir 468.
