462- It is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“If any of you comes to the meeting and a place is made available for him, let him sit down, for, indeed, this is the honor that Allah and his Muslim brother have shown him. If he is not given (a place), let him look for an empty seat and sit there. ” This hadith was narrated by Khatib al-Baghdadi 2/133 from the words of Ibn ‘Umar.
Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith good. See Saheeh al-jami ‘as-saghir 462.
Note: This particular chain is problematic in itself. Classified Munkar (Odd) and found only via this route for this wording by Khatib Baghdadi. However, due to supporting chains this reaches the level of Hasan via a different wording. and Allah knows best

أَخْبَرَنِيهِ أَبُو سَعْدٍ الْمَالِينِيُّ قِرَاءَةً ، قَالَ : أخبرنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُفِيدُ ، قَالَ : حدثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ بِحَلَبَ إِمْلاءً مِنْ كِتَابِهِ ، قَالَ : حدثنا مُجَاهِدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حدثنا مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : حدثنا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ” إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى مَجْلِسٍ فَأَوْسِعْ لَهُ ، فَلْيَجْلِسْ فَإِنَّهَا كَرَامَةٌ أَكْرَمَهُ اللَّهُ بِهَا وَأَخُوهُ الْمُسْلِمُ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يُوسَعْ لَهُ فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَوْسَعَ مَوْضِعٍ فَلْيَجْلِسْ فِيهِ ”

إذا جاء أحدكم إلى مجلس فأوسع له فليجلس فإنها كرامة أكرمه الله بها و أخوه المسلم فإن لم يوسع له فلينظر أوسع موضع فليجلس فيه
