It is narrated from the words of Abu Malik al-Ash’ari, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“When one rises in the morning, one should say: “We have reached the morning, and in the morning the dominion belongs to Allah, the Lord of the universe. O Allah! I ask Thee for the good this day contains, for conquest, victory, light, blessing and guidance during it; and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil it contains and the evil contained in what comes after it. ” In the evening he should say the equivalent.”

This hadith was narrated by Abu Dawood (5084).

Grade: Da’if (Weak)

Sheikh al-Albani called the hadith good initially then later changed. See Saheeh al-Jami ‘as-saghir (352).

Sheikh al-Albani later called this hadith weak in Silsilah ad-da’ifa 5606, saying: “This isnad is weak and has two flaws. The first is the weakness of Muhammad ibn Isma’il (ibn al-‘Ayasha). The second is a break in the chain between Shuraikh and Abu Malik. Abu Dawood himself called (Muhammad ibn Isma’il) weak, as al-Ajurri reported. Al-Nawawi was mistaken in this, saying in “al-Azkar”: “Abu Dawood did not consider him weak” and this was rejected by the Hafiz Ibn Hajar, who in “Nataij al-afkar” (2/368) said: “This hadith is unknown / gharib /. Its transmitters are reliable, except for Muhammad ibn Isma’il, whom Abu Daud called weak, and Abu Hatim ar-Razi said: “He did not hear anything from his father.”
